The "10 years of the Drisses de la Réussite" at the Lycée Beaussier (La Seyne-sur-Mer) with the MIO

The "Les Cordées de la Réussite" scheme, set up in 2008 by the Minister of Higher Education and Research and the Secretary of State for Urban Policy, aims to promote access to courses of excellence by encouraging, encouraging and developing vocations and scientific careers among students from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

A String is established between a String's head (university laboratory) and source institutions (colleges, lycées). The "Halyards of Success" String was set up at the launch of the device in 2008 between the PROTEE laboratory and the Beaussier high school. It is now the MIO laboratory that heads the "Halyards of Success" String, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year!

On the occasion of this anniversary, testimonies of the 10 years of experience of the 10 rope groups were presented. Various scientific issues have been addressed during these 10 years such as dredging sediments, their impact and recovery, environmental pollution related to cigarette butts, the study of compost, and recently microplastics and their impact on the environment. The two days on 16 and 17 October at the Lycée Beaussier were attended by the teachers and researchers of the Cordée (S. Mounier & N. Patel), but also and above all by the doctoral students and staff who have been involved in the cordage for the past 10 years (A. El Houssainy, N. Layglon, S. d'Onofrio, A. Nouhi, B. Oursel, C. Neytard,...).

On Wednesday 16, in the presence of the Director of the UFR Sciences and Techniques of the University of Toulon, the Principal of the Collège Henri Wallon, the Principal of the lycée Beaussier, the Academy Inspector and the representatives of the Mayor of the Seyne, of Toulon Provence Méditerranée (TPM), the testimonies of the students were poignant and rich in teaching on the role of the cordées in their careers and their personal and academic training.

On Thursday 17, the exchanges of experiences between the beneficiaries of the cordées, the doctoral students and the students of the Henri Wallon and Marie Curie colleges took place throughout the day in the form of a round table. In addition, the research activity at the University of Toulon, and in particular at the MIO laboratory, was presented to the senior classes of the Lycée Beaussier.

Finally, the 2019-2020 cordage, 8 young first-year students from the Lycée Beaussier, presented the PLASTI-CODE project to the assembly. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the MIO and MAPIEM laboratories and will be supervised by two PhD students I. Sanou (MIO) and Alexandre Salah (MAPIEM) throughout the year.
