Discovering the infinitely small ocean: radio interview on RFI with Sophie Bonnet (MIO-CYBELE) and Laurie Casalot (MIO-MEB)

Microorganisms represent more than two thirds of the biomass of the world ocean. Plant plankton, animal plankton, viruses, bacteria... This microbiome is little known, yet it captures carbon, produces oxygen, is at the base of the food chain and can even produce light. Our three guests explore it and share their discoveries with passion.

Guests :

- Sophie Bonnet, director of research at IRD and co-director of the Tonga mission in search of submarine volcanoes in the Pacific

- Emilie Villar, consultant in environmental genomics and initiator of the Street science walks

- Laurie Casalot, researcher at IRD, specialized in the bioluminescence of marine bacteria
