Exhibition - "Light from the sea", an underwater bioluminescent installation!

On the occasion of World Ocean Day, the Musée Subaquatique de Marseille offers, from June 8 to 11, to discover bioluminescent art installations a few hundred meters from the beach of Catalans! A project of the artist-researcher Jeremie Brugidou, winner of the IMéRA grant - Institute of Advanced Studies of Aix-Marseille University and Nadia Merad Coliac realized in connection with Laurie Casalot (IRD) and Christian Tamburini (CNRS) scientists at the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanology -MIO.

An underwater exhibition, from June 8 to 11

In order to honor the preservation of the oceans, and more particularly the Mediterranean Sea, the city of Marseille is organizing a new kind of exhibition: ten hermetically sealed globes containing bioluminescent bacteria present in the Mediterranean, highlighted by the MIO, will be suspended in the open sea. A magical light will illuminate the sculptures of the underwater gallery, allowing the public to marvel at their visit out of time.
Made of 100% recycled material (and recyclable by the companies Clem and Madreperla), the lit globes will be accessible and visible from the shore, forming a circle of blue light.

An awareness campaign for the protection of the oceans

A discovery tent will also be present on the Catalan beach to raise awareness and inform about the loss of biodiversity and pollution in the Mediterranean. MIO experts will lead fun activities for the youngest.
