Launch of the call for projects "Zero marine waste in Overseas France".

A call for projects is launched by the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition and the Ministry of Overseas France to propose concrete, effective, sustainable and reproducible solutions to reduce the impact of waste on the marine environment. This is in line with the objectives of the Biodiversity Plan and the Overseas France Blue Book, which aim to implement an economy that is pollution-free and has a low impact on biodiversity. Announced objective: zero plastic discarded at sea by 2025.

The call for projects aims to carry out operations to locate areas where waste accumulates, recover it and provide solutions for prevention and recovery. The objective is also to conduct pilot waste recovery operations with fishing professionals. Indeed, nets and fishing gear abandoned or lost at sea are among these plastic wastes.

Applicants have until 8 November 2019 to apply for support. The total amount allocated for this call for projects is EUR 300 000, to be distributed among the selected projects
