The VVP, swim it easy...

On June 2 and 3, 2021, it was in the fresh water of the 10m-depth pit at the famous COMEX company that the VVP was tested. Equipped with ice release systems developped at MIO to free it from its ballast after each dive, the VVP performed more than 80 ascending profiles at different velocities and with different configurations, in order to characterise its dynamics in a controlled environment. The measurements will allow us to assess its drag coefficient, as well as the frequency and amplitude of wake vortices as a function of the speed and configuration of the VVP. This information will be precious to develop the methodology for the VVP deployment at sea during future oceanographic cruises.

Two intense and rich days !
