This prize for excellence is awarded every year for the 3rd time by the Institut M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en d'Oc\u00e9anologie (MIO) in memory of C\u00e9dric GARNIER, a lecturer and researcher at the University of Toulon, who was instrumental in bringing together researchers from Toulon and Marseille and was deputy director of the MIO, a specialist in environmental analytical chemistry who passed away in 2018. C\u00e9dric GARNIER combined high scientific standards, experimental rigour, generosity and great humanity.<\/p>

This prize is awarded to the best application from doctoral students, post-doctoral students, permanent or non-permanent researchers and research engineers under the age of 40. The assessment criteria include the quality and output of the scientific work, interdisciplinarity and inter-team working, as well as investment in the MIO community.<\/p>

Applications will be examined by the laboratory's Executive Committee in mid-July. The winner of the C\u00e9dric GARNIER Excellence Award will receive the equivalent of \u20ac2,000, a certificate and will present his or her work at the award ceremony, which will take place in September.<\/p>

\u00a0Conditions of participation<\/p>

Candidates must be under 40 years of age at the time of application.<\/p>

Candidates may enter the C\u00e9dric GARNIER Prize for Excellence only once.<\/p>

\u00a0Application<\/p>

To participate, candidates must send their complete application by e-mail before 08 July 2021 18:00 to pascal.lesage@mio.osupytheas.fr<\/a> and marc.tedetti@mio.osupytheas.fr<\/a> (with a copy to his team managers).<\/p>

The complete application must include the following documents:<\/p>

1) The completed and signed registration form<\/p>

2) A CV with a full list of publications (word or pdf)<\/p>

3) A summary of the main research results (maximum 3 pages) (word or pdf)<\/p>

The MIO will also be offering a special prize for ITAs.
