In Bizerte, faced with the degradation of marine ecosystems, decision-makers and experts are committed to an exemplary Mediterranean by 2030.<\/p>

The 4th World Maritime Forum - Bizerte, produced by La Saison Bleue, was held on 24 and 25 September in Bizerte, Tunisia.<\/p>

This year's event was a resounding success, with more than 18,000 people logging on and 400 attending in person. As the only international event devoted to maritime issues south of the Mediterranean, the World Maritime Forum-Bizerte has established itself, year after year, as the place for all kinds of expressions, both from the countries bordering the Mediterranean and from the African continent, of which Bizerte is the northernmost point.<\/p>

As in previous sessions, the 4th edition of the Bizerte World Marine Forum was chaired by Pascal Lamy, head of the Starfish Mission to the European Commission.\u00a0<\/p>

Over the course of two days of discussions and meetings with the general public, Forum 2021 brought together a number of high-level experts and speakers, political leaders and emblematic figures in the field of the environment, including H.S.H. Prince ALBERT II of Monaco, Annick GIRARDIN, Minister for the Sea (France), Ricardo SERRAO SANTOS, Minister for the Sea (Portugal), Nasser KAMEL, Secretary-General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Fran\u00e7oise GAILL, oceanographer ...<\/p>

Several Tunisian ministers took an active part in the forum, including Habib AMMAR, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Kamel DOUKH, Minister of Local Affairs and the Environment, Asma SHIRI LAABIDI, Secretary General of Maritime Affairs...<\/p>

This edition was also an opportunity to present the winner of the Amwej project and the \"Ghodwa, youth and environment\" programme.\u00a0<\/p>

For three days, the Old Port of Bizerte will be alive with festivities organised by the municipality of Bizerte, a group of local associations and Envirofest.\u00a0<\/p>

Taking up the recommendations of the Plan for an exemplary Mediterranean in 2030, Pascal LAMY, President, declared at the conclusion of the Forum: \"In Bizerte, faced with the growing and very worrying degradation of the Mediterranean's marine ecosystems, we are asking national and regional political decision-makers, international bodies and all those involved in the sustainable blue economy to take swift and consistent measures to protect biodiversity to the tune of 30% of maritime space by 2030, including 10% under strong protection, the development of marine protected areas, the fight against plastic pollution and overfishing, as well as the blueing and decarbonisation of maritime transport\".<\/p>
