This is known as bioluminescence. Laurie Casalot (IRD), Christian Tamburini (CNRS) and S\u00e9verine Martini (CNRS), scientists at the Institut M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en d'Oc\u00e9anologie, have developed a kit to produce a natural source of light energy using marine bacteria.
