His research aims to determine the flows and effects of combustion aerosols throughout their life cycle, from emission to burial in marine sediments.<br>He is head of the international South-South research group \"Impact of black carbon in South-East Asia\" (GDRI-Sud SOOT-SEA), which brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of scientists working on health, climate, environmental and socio-political issues related to fine particle air pollution in the Asia-Pacific region. Xavier Mari is also the IRD focal point for the Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership (APCAP).<br>Xavier will take up his new post on 1 September.
