Here he explains the various analyses that will later be carried out in the laboratory to assess zooplankton diversity.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\">\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"rtecenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/ancien-site\/images\/bioswot-med-loicguilloux.jpg\" style=\"width: 499px; height: 699px;\" width=\"499\" height=\"699\"><\/p><p class=\"rtecenter\">Loic Guilloux.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\">\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>OCEANOGRAPHERS' INSTRUMENTS<\/strong> - Loic Guillox is a research engineer at the CNRS and works at the Institut M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en d'Oc\u00e9anographie (MIO). As part of the BioSWOT-Med campaign, he is responsible for sampling zooplankton communities.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\">\u00a0<\/p><h4 class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>What instruments do you use to sample and study the diversity of zooplankton?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"rtejustify\">During the BioSWOT-Med campaign, I will be using nets of different mesh sizes to sample zooplankton of different sizes.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\">Back in the laboratory, these samples will be analysed in a number of ways. Firstly, thanks to the expertise of the zooplankton, a taxonomic identification and a count will be carried out using stereomicroscopy.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\">Secondly, by digital imaging using the ZooScan, a device that produces digital images of zooplankton samples and can process the samples quickly and semi-automatically.
