{"id":6979,"date":"2023-10-31T11:04:16","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T10:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mio.osupytheas.fr\/fr\/seminaire-de-david-emerson-le-jeudi-9-nov-13h\/"},"modified":"2023-10-31T11:04:16","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T10:04:16","slug":"david-emerson-seminar-thursday-9-nov-1pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mio.osupytheas.fr\/en\/seminaire-de-david-emerson-le-jeudi-9-nov-13h\/","title":{"rendered":"David Emerson seminar on Thursday 9 Nov 1pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"basic-page-content\" class=\"page-content\">    <div class=\"content\">    <div class=\"container\">      <div class=\"row\">        <div class=\"col-xs-12\">                      <div class=\"container clearfix\">              <div class=\"row\">                <div class=\"col-xs-12\">                                  <\/div>              <\/div>            <\/div>                                <div class=\"body\">              <div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\"><div class=\"field-items\"><div class=\"field-item even\" property=\"content:encoded\"><p>David Emerson, a researcher at the Bigelow laboratory for Ocean Sciences (Maine), is currently visiting the laboratory as part of the SEM team until 12 November.\u00a0<br>He will give a seminar on Thursday 09 November at 13:00 in the Salle Eg\u00e9e and by videoconference:\u00a0<br>Iron and Kelp Provide Two Different Perspectives on Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR).<\/p><p>David Emerson's research focuses on two areas:\u00a0<br>- Geomicrobiology, and more specifically, he studies oxygen-dependent iron-oxidising bacteria in environments as varied as submarine volcanoes, coastal marine sediments, freshwater wetlands and Arctic tundra.\u00a0<br>- Mitigating the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, by working on 1) the potential of iron fertilisation of the oceans as a natural approach to eliminating carbon dioxide; 2) the potential of algal by-products to inhibit methanogens and reduce methane production by ruminants; 3) the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) to assess the capacity of marine sediments to absorb carbon produced by seaweed aquaculture (blue carbon), and to understand the impacts of carbon loading on benthic sediment communities.<\/p><p>You can find the video link below:<br><a href=\"mailto:celine.rommevaux-jestin@univ-amu.fr\">celine.rommevaux-jestin@univ-amu.fr<\/a> invites you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.<br>Subject: D.
