RFI recently published a report on the disappearance of the sardinella in Senegal<\/a>the country's most popular fish.<\/p>

A study published in June in the British journal Scientific Reports, Climate change impacts on small pelagic fish distribution in Northwest Africa: trends, shifts, and risk for food security<\/a> has studied the distribution of small fish in the oceans of North and West Africa. It highlights the tropicalisation of ecosystems. The sardinella is moving from the coasts of Mauritania and Senegal towards Morocco, where large catches have been recorded.<\/p>

RFI interviewed Vincent Rossi to find out more about the reasons for this disappearance. For the scientist, the reasons are complex.<\/p>
