Il constitue un p\u00f4le de comp\u00e9tences en biologie, \u00e9cologie, biodiversit\u00e9, microbiologie, halieutique, physique, chimie, biog\u00e9ochimie et en s\u00e9dimentologie marines. Ses cadres d\u2019exercice sont l\u2019oc\u00e9an mondial, ses interfaces avec le continent, l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re et le s\u00e9diment.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Le M.I.O c\u2019est\u00a0:<\/span><\/p><ul><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Un effectif de 250 personnes dont une centaine de chercheurs (CNRS, IRD) et d\u2019enseignants-chercheurs des Universit\u00e9s, une cinquantaine d\u2019ing\u00e9nieurs et techniciens, plus de soixante-dix doctorants et post-doctorants, ainsi qu\u2019une \u00e9quipe d\u2019administratifs au service de la recherche.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">5 sites\u00a0: le campus de Marseille-Luminy, l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Toulon, la Base Marine d\u2019IFREMER \u00e0 la Seyne-sur-Mer et le Centre IRD de Noum\u00e9a (Nouvelle-Cal\u00e9donie)<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">6 \u00e9quipes disciplinaires<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">5 d\u00e9fis, 5 services communs techniques, 5 plateformes\/plateaux techniques transverses et 3 plateaux techniques (Equipe CEM)<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Un service d\u2019observation du milieu marin au sein de l\u2019OSU-Pyth\u00e9as, avec le support du navire d\u2019Oc\u00e9anologie c\u00f4tier L\u2019Ant\u00e9don II<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Les scientifiques du MIO effectuent leurs recherches dans les domaines de \u00a0:<\/span><\/p><ul><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">la circulation oc\u00e9anique et atmosph\u00e9rique<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">la compr\u00e9hension des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins et de la biodiversit\u00e9 de la bact\u00e9rie aux poissons<\/span><\/li><li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">des fonctionnements biologiques dans les environnements extr\u00eames et de la pollution des oc\u00e9ans.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Ces travaux de recherches n\u00e9cessitent des campagnes oc\u00e9anographiques, l\u2019utilisation d\u2019instruments immerg\u00e9s \u00e9quip\u00e9s de capteurs (bou\u00e9es, instruments tract\u00e9s, \u00ab\u00a0gliders\u00a0\u00bb ou drones sous marins), de radars install\u00e9s sur la c\u00f4te et d\u2019analyses d\u2019images satellitaires, ainsi que des moyens analytiques et exp\u00e9rimentaux de laboratoire. Ces recherches font appel \u00e0 l\u2019analyse num\u00e9rique et \u00e0 la mod\u00e9lisation. Ces th\u00e9matiques de recherches s\u2019inscrivent dans les axes de recherches nationaux comme MERMEX\/MISTRALS, HYMEX\/MISTRALS, LEFE\/CNRS, EC2CO\/CNRS et internationaux de l\u2019IGBP au sein des programmes IMBER, SOLAS et LOICZ et n\u00e9cessitent des interventions sur tous les oc\u00e9ans de la
