Cécile Militon conducts her research at the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanology (MIO, Marseille). A specialist in molecular microbiology of coastal ecosystems, she has over 15 years of experience, notably working on overseas mangrove ecosystems. Her research combines molecular tools (metabarcoding, metatranscriptomics, microarrays) with physicochemical parameters to characterize microbial diversity and its role in the functioning of marine ecosystems. Since 2017, she has been contributing to the Mangrove WFD Working Group (GT DCE Mangrove) for the development of mangrove indicators within the framework of the Water Framework Directive in overseas territories. In 2024, she became co-head of the Marine Biology and Ecology specialization of the Master’s program in Marine Sciences at Aix-Marseille University (AMU).
