Post-doctoral contract: Assessing the predation impact of the invasive blue crab Callinectes sapidus on native mollusk species: current and future climate scenarios

The invasion of the American blue crab Callinectes sapidus is one of the biggest invasions in the Mediterranean, since this Portunidae crab is having a major impact on small-scale fishing, commercial mollusc stocks and the functioning of lagoon ecosystems.

The proposed postdoctorate is part of the Calli-Berre project entitled " Assessing the predation impact of the invasive blue crab Callinectes sapidus on native mollusk species: current and future climate scenarios "funded by the Institut Océan - AMIDEX. The aim of this project is to study the predation pressure of the invasive blue crab. Callinectes sapidus on native mollusc species in the Etang de Berre (France), by studying food consumption rates on various prey and the thermal performance of the blue crab in order to map its impact on a local scale as well as on a Mediterranean scale in current and future climate scenarios.
