Scholarship programme to support French participation in the UArctic Congress 2026 & Ocean Connectivity Conference

This initiative by the French Institutes of Denmark and Norway is part of the context of the respective chairmanships of the Arctic Council by the Kingdom of Norway (2023 - 2025) and the Kingdom of Denmark (2025-2027). It supports the scientific priorities set by France and the United Nations, in particular at the Third United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC 3), which was successfully held in Nice in June 2025, and as part of the Decade of the Cryosphere (2025-2034).

It aims to support the active participation of French researchers in the UArctic Congress 2026 and Ocean Connectivity Conference, The aim is to support France's commitment to polar and oceanic sciences and cooperation with Nordic researchers.

Purpose of the programme

This programme, supported by the French Institutes in Denmark and Norway, aims to facilitate the participation of French researchers in the UArctic Congress 2026 and Ocean Connectivity Conference. It covers travel and registration costs for selected candidates.

The main themes of the Congress are

  • Sustainable economic development and international cooperation
  • Oceans and marine connectivity
  • Climate change in the Arctic
  • Biodiversity
  • Aboriginal peoples and northern communities

Eligible beneficiaries

  • French researchers (including doctoral and post-doctoral students): affiliation to a French research institution.
  • Have submitted a draft abstract to the scientific committee of the UArctic Congress 2026 (link - submission deadline 15 January 2025).

Type of grant

The grant covers a maximum of €2,000 per winner, subject to the budget available and the number of projects selected:

  • The registration fee for UArctic Congress 2026 (including access to Ocean Connectivity Conference).
  • Travel expenses (travel, per diem).

How to apply

Documents to be provided :

  • A CV detailing your affiliation with a French research institution and including a list of publications.
  • Your abstract.
  • A covering letter (max. 1 page) explaining the scientific and partnership interest of your participation.
  • A provisional budget showing the amount requested (up to €2,000)

Selection of candidates
