As promised in Barcelona in June 2016, Africa will host the next International Symposium on Jellyfish Blooms, as it is the only continent that has not yet done so. It will be held in Mzantzi Afrika's mother city, Cape Town, in November 2019, bringing "Season 1" of the series to a close!
Africa, as a continent, is a developing continent. In a way that previous host continents have not been. Although Africa has witnessed the evolution of Homo sapiens sapiens, it is nevertheless young and inexperienced.... in many ways. The conference will therefore focus on development in its broadest sense: human capacity development, technological development, concept development, innovative management strategies, etc. The focus will be on students, women and people from developing countries.
Our logo is a case in point. Aimed at students at a local design school, the exercise served to educate and inspire some of the new generation of young professionals, and choosing the most appropriate image was no easy task. We hope you like our choice.
