The International Union for Conservation of Nature is organising the World Conservation Congress, originally scheduled for June 2020, but now scheduled for 3 to 11 September 2021 in Marseille.
Prior to this event, the members of the AllEnvi alliance (National Alliance for Environmental Research) are organising a conference from 1 to 3 September 2021 in Marseille. The event will be organised in a hybrid format: face-to-face and distance learning.
AllEnvi hopes that these days will provide an opportunity to mobilise all the scientific communities working on major environmental issues to collectively tackle the theme of "biodiversity conservation" through major cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary issues involving the various organisations and working groups of the Alliance.
These days will be organised around four sessions:
Evolutionary context of biodiversity conservation strategies ;
Diversity of types of anthropisation and their effects on conservation ;
Climate-biodiversity interactions and feedback;
Explaining the ethical issues involved in conservation.
A lecture on "Biodiversity Conservation and Health" will also be given on September 2 by Serge Morand. The conference will conclude on the afternoon of September 3 with an interactive closing session devoted to governance issues and the role of research in biodiversity conservation in a post-Covid world.
AllEnvi has appointed Martine HOSSAERT as coordinator of this event (martine.hossaert@cnrs-dir.fr).
