The MIO is carrying out studies in Vietnam on the atmospheric, river and marine compartments, on fine particle pollution and on plastic pollution. As part of these activities, regular sampling (atmospheric, river, coastal, sediment) is carried out in the Mekong and Red River deltas. The aim is to establish estimates of the atmospheric and river flows of contaminants associated with these different forms of pollution towards the ocean. In order to optimise the activities carried out by the MIO in Vietnam, to provide the best possible coverage of the cocktail of contaminants associated with plastics and particulate aerosols, and to address the impacts of these contaminants on the biological compartment, researchers based in Vietnam are offering to collect and make available samples that would be of interest to MIO researchers. Please note that as the provision of samples requires the involvement and organisational support of the Vietnamese partners, it is essential that the collection, packaging and dispatch of the samples be carried out within an official framework, justified and financed by an applicant programme. If you are interested, please contact Emilie Strady (Mekong Delta and Saigon-Dongnai system) and Xavier Mari (Red River Delta, Halong Bay) to discuss the appropriate sampling protocols to be put in place for each of them (sampling duration and frequency, sample packaging, etc.).
