Coronavirus: travel advice for Asia

Here are the safety instructions concerning the virus which has been identified in China in recent days and which has recently spread to South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan. Please read this message carefully and inform yourself about the risks and health advice concerning the Coronavirus in Asia.

All mission departures to China have been suspended for the time being: if you had obtained authorisation for a mission to China in the next few weeks, this is no longer valid. You are asked to postpone your trip.

FOR STAFF PREPARING AN ASSIGNMENT IN SOUTH KOREA, TAIWAN, THAILAND, MALAYSIA OR JAPAN :

Before you leave, please find out about health precautions in Asia, the symptoms of the coronavirus, and all the usual precautionary advice to avoid contaminating those around you.

YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN CHINA, SOUTH KOREA, TAIWAN, THAILAND, MALAYSIA OR JAPAN:

We recommend that you :

avoid all contact with live or dead animals, avoid going to markets where animals are sold and avoid eating undercooked or poorly cooked animal products;
avoid close contact with people suffering from respiratory infections;
wash your hands regularly with soapy water or hydro-alcoholic washing solutions.
take the usual precautions to avoid contaminating those around you (isolate yourself, stay at a distance, protect your mouth when coughing if necessary with a mask, use disposable tissues and wash your hands thoroughly) and consult a local doctor as soon as possible.

In the event of symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, coughing, difficulty breathing), it is recommended that you put on a mask and go to a local public hospital as soon as possible (see links below), taking the usual precautions to avoid contaminating those around you (keep your distance, protect your mouth when coughing, use disposable tissues and wash your hands thoroughly), and that you tell the doctor who and where you have been.

YOU HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM CHINA, SOUTH KOREA, TAIWAN, THAILAND, MALAYSIA OR JAPAN:

On your return to France, we recommend that you apply the same measures and, in the event of symptoms, quickly call the SAMU - Centre 15, before consulting a general practitioner or an emergency service. Please inform the University of Aix-Marseille of your return.
