The VVP could swim.... And now it's flying!

On 29 and 30 April 2021, part of the VVP Team visited the wind tunnel to carry out a series of hydrodynamic tests on their prototype Vertical Velocities Profiler (VVP), in particular to study the instrument's wake. We were able to measure the frequency of vortices emitted as a function of configuration (with or without a hull on one side, with or without a half-sphere on the other) and wind speed.

We also visualised the trajectory of the fluid using smoke and a laser plane. Many thanks to Hubert, Christopher and Mélanie for their warm welcome and invaluable help!

Participants Jean-Luc Fuda, Caroline Comby, Margaux Dufosse, Kassim Benabdelmoumène, Stéphanie Barrillon (MIO), Patrice Le Gal, Hubert Branger (IRPHE), Christopher Luneau, Mélanie Doret (OSUPythéas).
