IRD and MNHN officially sign the Punta Arenas Declaration, Chile

Last week, Léa Cabrol (MIO-MEB), representative of the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD)-MNHN in Chile, signed the Punta Arenas Declaration with the national authorities, represented in particular by Andrés Couve, Chilean Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, representatives of the private sector and the academic world, and international collaborators (several embassies including the French Embassy).

The aim of this charter is to make the southern region of Chile a natural laboratory for observing, studying and adapting to climate change, by developing a sustainable centre of scientific and technological excellence focused on society. This is recognition of the strategic interest and involvement of our research activities in the southern zone, focusing on the themes of biodiversity and climate change, in collaboration with the various Chilean stakeholders.
