Mar Benavides, IRD Research Officer at the MIO, was awarded the departmental "young researcher" prize for research in Provence 2022.

This prize is aimed at a person in active employment under the age of 40 at the time of application, and rewards their ability to open up new research perspectives within their discipline, the originality of their work and the scientific spin-offs of their discoveries, as well as their contribution to society.

Mar Benavides is studying the workings of diazotrophs, bacteria that supply nitrogen to the entire underwater food chain.
Well done to her!
