The academic year is drawing to a close, with the summer holidays just around the corner. This year has been marked by a number of changes - first and foremost the installation of a new governance structure - by a number of successes under the PIA - funding of the PANORAMA, AMPIRIC, SFRI and IDéES projects - and by our rhythms being profoundly disrupted by the health crisis. Unfortunately, this crisis is not over yet. By decree, it is now compulsory for everyone to wear a barrier mask in enclosed spaces where a distance of one metre cannot be maintained between two people. This applies, of course, to our university sites. I'm counting on you to apply this civic rule to protect us all. You can also rest assured that our teams will remain mobilised this summer. We are preparing for our entire community to return to the classroom in September so that the start of the new academic year at AMU can take place under the best possible conditions.
1. Health safety: masks and hygiene
Since the beginning of this week, it has been compulsory in France for everyone over the age of 11 to wear a barrier mask against COVID-19 in enclosed spaces.
Protective masks must be worn at all our sites, particularly during meetings. We would also ask you to comply with the usual barrier measures:
Maintain a distance of one metre between staff in common areas - or wear a mask.
Avoid grouping
Use soap and paper towels. For the teams concerned, make sure there are enough of them available,
Air meeting rooms twice a day for 15 minutes.
At the start of the new school year, it will be compulsory for all students and teaching staff to wear masks in all teaching areas (lecture theatres, classrooms and common areas). All students and teaching staff will be required to wear masks. Everyone's health is at stake. To prepare for this, a publicity campaign will be displayed in all our premises in September and on our networks from the end of July.
In addition to the special cleaning already carried out in our offices and common areas, a specific cleaning programme for the teaching premises (classrooms, tutorials and practical work rooms, lecture theatres) will be carried out every morning, including the cleaning of microphones, desks and teaching tables, as well as computer equipment used successively by the teachers. Disinfectant sprays or hydro-alcoholic gel will also be available to teachers near their desks.
You will find our updated Business Resumption Plan (BRP) on page 3 with the health principles applying to the start of the new school year: https://bit.ly/2ZSAhQq
Strict compliance with these health instructions is all the more important given that the number of students starting the new academic year will be higher than expected. The large number of students taking the baccalaureate this year is forcing universities to increase their intake capacity, and yesterday we decided to accept nearly 400 additional first-time entrants to L1 courses in September.
2. Solidarity actions continue this summer
The food aid distributed to students has not stopped as a result of the lockdown. Since April, almost 2,000 food and hygiene parcels have been delivered to campuses every week. From 27 July and throughout the summer, deliveries to the same number of student beneficiaries will continue at modified locations:
Two distribution points for students in the centre of Marseille and on the Timone campus:
33 Rue Thubaneau: distribution by the UNEF every Tuesday between 3pm and 6pm
96 Canebière au CRIJ distribution provided by FAMI every Thursday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
In Saint Jérôme, distribution will be carried out by the association on Friday 13 (blancmonique13@yahoo.f) every Saturday from 12pm to 2pm
In Luminy, distribution will be carried out by the association on Friday 13 (blancmonique13@yahoo.fr) every Saturday from 11am to 1pm
On the Schuman campus, distribution will be carried out by FAMI (elena.palmero@fede-fami.fr) every Thursday from 11am to 1pm
I would like to thank all those who have worked to make this solidarity initiative possible, and I would like to extend my warmest thanks in advance to the teams who will be distributing food during the summer holidays. They are possible thanks to the unfailing help of our partners: the CROUS, the towns of Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, the Conseil Régional Sud PACA and the Préfecture.
As I've said on many occasions, keeping in touch with each other is a priority.
So, in addition to the distribution of parcels, I would like to remind you that this summer the Inst'AMU mobile application will be the way to contact the AMU teams likely to be able to provide you with emergency assistance. If you have not yet downloaded it, it is still available on Google Play or the Apple Store, depending on your mobile phone model.
For the record, you log in using your university ID. Once again, Inst'AMU does not track individuals under any circumstances and no health data linked to COVID-19 (or any other) is entered or stored.
Take good care of yourselves and have a wonderful summer. In a few weeks' time, we'll be back to "normal" business, including, I hope, the resumption of our federative events at our sites.
