CIRM, the Centre international de rencontres mathématiques, a centre of excellence serving the French school of mathematics and researchers from all over the world, is celebrating its 40th anniversary on 13 and 14 October 2021.
A support and research unit under the aegis of the Société Mathématique de France, the CNRS and Aix-Marseille University, the CIRM is one of the world's leading meeting places for mathematics.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, CIRM has put together a festive programme aimed at a wide range of audiences: an institutional day, scientific presentations, a day of dissemination aimed at secondary school pupils, a visual competition, an escape game, exhibitions, etc.
A scientific morning
François Charles, Director of Research at the CNRS, member of the Laboratoire de Mathématiques d'Orsay (LMO - CNRS & Université Paris-Saclay);
Anne-Laure Dalibard, professor at Sorbonne University, member of the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory (LJLL - CNRS, Sorbonne University & University of Paris);
Javier Fernández de Bobadilla, Professor at the Basque Centre for Applied Mathematics, Spain
will be giving scientific presentations on the morning of 14 October.
A day dedicated to high school students
The Cirm, which organises "Les Cigales" every year, a week-long immersion course for a group of female high school students, is inviting students from the region's high schools to its anniversary event, in conjunction with the Maths pour tous association and the Aix-Marseille IREM.
