Workshop on dissolved oxygen in the ocean: towards a platform for ocean and coastal data from the French community

The aim of this workshop is to bring together those involved in ocean sciences who are interested in dissolved oxygen. Oxygen is essential to the health of the planet. It affects the cycles of carbon, nitrogen and other key elements, and is a fundamental requirement for aquatic life. Nevertheless, deoxygenation is worsening in the coastal and open ocean.

The aim of this workshop is to contribute to the development of an open access platform for oceanic dissolved oxygen concentration data collected by the entire French community, whatever the approach used: argo-bgc, profiling floats, moorings, experimental data, water-sediment interface. The aim is to compile an inventory of existing data and to develop specifications for a synthetic data product, including quality control. It is part of the international effort led by the IOC-UNESCO GO2NE (Global Ocean Oxygen Network), and IOCCP.

The programme will include oral presentations and working groups with experts and representatives of offshore and coastal observation networks. If you would like to take part in this scientific event, please contact the organising committee. Details of the programme, registration and other logistical details will be sent to you shortly.
