On Thursday 23 June, the Provence and Corsica regional delegation of the CNRS, in conjunction with the IRD and Aix-Marseille University, is organising an awareness-raising day on access to biodiversity and benefit sharing.
The Nagoya Protocol regulates Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of the Benefits Arising out of their Utilisation (ABS), with the aim of promoting the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
The aim of the day will be to remind participants of the origins and spirit of the regulations, as well as the obligations arising from the execution of research projects. Practical, fun and interactive workshops will cover the best practices to adopt in this area. Laurie Casalot, our colleague from the MIO and the IRD's Nagoya scientific advisor, will be one of the day's moderators.
