The French National Research Agency (ANR) is launching the 2024 edition of the ASTRID call for projects in partnership with the Defence Innovation Agency (AID), a national service under the responsibility of the Délégué général de l'armement (DGA). This scheme is financed entirely by the AID and is hosted by the ANR, which is responsible for its implementation.
ASTRID aims to support projects of a highly exploratory and innovative nature, for a period of 18 to 36 months. The maximum amount of aid allocated is limited to €400k. The nature of the research work is specifically dual (both civilian and military spin-offs).
A wide range of scientific themes can be supported in the following disciplines:
- Information engineering
- Robotics
- Cybersecurity
- Fluids and structures
- Acoustic and radio waves
- Nanotechnologies, sensors and components
- Photonics
- Materials
- Energy materials and energy
- Biology, health, CBRN
- People and systems
- Applied human and social sciences
- Marine engineering and geosciences
- Artificial intelligence
The follow-up to these projects may be supported by the ASTRID Maturation programme or other AID funding schemes such as RAPID or upstream study contracts.
