Call for ADEME thesis projects - 2026 Edition

Application deadline :

The AAP is aimed at applicants who hold or are in the process of obtaining a Master's degree eligible for enrolment in a doctoral school by 1 October 2026, who have an appropriate course of study, are fluent in French and have no other professional activity.

The Theses programme is one of the tools used to implement ADEME's Research strategy, which aims to encourage research that supports the ecological transition in a context of climate change, with a view to preparing and supporting the Agency's operational actions. This programme is not intended to fund fundamental research theses.

The laboratory(ies) hosting the doctoral student must be attached to a French public research establishment and guarantee the provision of sufficient supervision resources.

The relations between the doctoral student, ADEME and the host laboratory(ies) are specified in the model collaboration agreement (year 2025) available on the home page (the co-financer's financial contribution will be updated prior to signature). This model cannot be modified and must be accepted as it stands. If the thesis is co-funded, the co-funder is also a signatory to this agreement.

Doctoral students may have already begun their thesis no earlier than 1 October 2025, will be employed by ADEME and must accept a full-time contract at ADEME.
