My work is part of an interdisciplinary approach aimed at understanding the role of microbiota in aquatic organisms in order to gain a better understanding of the functioning of coastal ecosystems and the impact of human disturbance.
I'm approaching this work on interactions within the holobiont (host+microbiota) from the following angles via three major questions: how hosts select and maintain a specific microbiota via chemical defences; how this microbiota influences their life cycle, particularly growth; and how environmental factors disrupt these interactions.
To answer these questions, I am using multidisciplinary approaches combining metabarcoding, metabolomics and other «omics» techniques.
As a research fellow at the IRD, I'm currently studying the epiphytic microbiota of sargassum to better understand its role in the proliferation and degradation processes of these algae.
