AMU's representative office in Brussels recently organised a conference entitled "Protecting our oceans, the challenge of European leadership in the world", alongside several laboratories, including the MIO.
Two major topics were at the heart of the debates:
- combating the disruption to marine ecosystems caused by climate change
- the challenge of dispersing marine pollutants and contaminants
In the wake of World Oceans Day 2021, this event provided an opportunity for some twenty internationally renowned scientists to present their work and engage in dialogue with representatives of the European Commission, UNESCO and various European organisations.
