From the Mekong to the ocean: Gathering of young people from LabelFrancÉducation schools in Quy Nhon

An international conference was held in Quy Nhon, Vietnam, from 29 June at 1st July 2025on the theme From the Mekong to the ocean: Gathering of young people from LabelFrancEducation schools. Co-organised by the French Embassy in Vietnam, theICISE and the IRD, this conference focused on issues relating to the preservation of oceans and marine spaces, echoing the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3). Marc Tedetti, acting IRD representative in Vietnam, took an active part in the event, along with his IRD colleagues from LEGOS (Alexis Chaigneau and Lucie Gourdon). 

The programme These included a quiz on the oceans organised by the IRD, exchanges in French with the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics, Professor Duncan Haldane, preparatory work for a field trip to the Quy Nyon lagoon with the IRD (the students were divided into six groups and created a questionnaire addressed to 6 ecosystem stakeholders: 1 aquaculturist, 1 fisherman, 1 scientist, 1 ornithologist, 1 eco-guard, 1 green tourism promoter), students' excursion to the lagoon and discussions/questions with the ecosystem stakeholders, Students present by group the summary of the answers of the stakeholder they interviewed, and discussions with the IRD.
