In a book accessible to all, the members of the OT-Med research consortium take stock of the issue of sustainable development in the Aix-Marseille metropolitan area. The book explores land, coastal and marine issues, as well as urban, social and management challenges, against a backdrop of climate change.
Aix-Marseille Provence, a major Mediterranean metropolis, raises a host of social and environmental issues. This book examines the issues involved in the sustainable development of such a coastal area in the face of the challenge of climate change. Based on the scientific findings of the OT-Med Laboratory of Excellence research group, it presents an overview of the environmental issues facing this metropolis. Faced with the questions posed by public managers and decision-makers, it offers an interdisciplinary synthesis of "local science" that is accessible to all: urban space, soil, biodiversity, sea and coast, atmosphere and climatology, risks, protected areas, etc. are all examined. An academic reference, a gateway to society, the economy and environmental management, "Marseille et l'Environnement" disseminates this data in an accessible language, providing a better understanding of current challenges, actions already taken or underway, and the solutions we need to invent.
