Second CROCO user meeting

The second CROCO users' meeting was held from 13 at 15 September 2023 at Fort Ganteaume in Marseille. The main aim of the meeting was to bring the CROCO community together and encourage interaction.

Our colleagues Camille Mazoyer and Crisyèle Chevalier were present.

At the initiative of the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) and resolutely cooperative between countries of the North and South, this training course was open to ten international students and scientists who came to discover or consolidate their skills in the use of the numerical hydrodynamic modelling tool "CROCO". CROCO is an ocean modelling system developed by scientists from several French research institutes.and apply it to their current research projects.

Loyal to Séolane for this second edition, the course brings together researchers from almost every continent. Carlos, for example, has come to learn how to model and thus try to understand where the current drastic and problematic drop in oxygen concentration in the ocean on the west coast of Mexico comes from. Estelle, a geologist, uses this modelling to understand the influence of ocean currents on sedimentation and the formation of underwater landscapes.
