To mark the 2026 Interdisciplinary Festival of Science and the Arts organised by Aix-Marseille University on the theme « Humans and Animals. A shared adventure? », the OSU Pythéas enabled us to to attend a performance of the play Martin is a fish, the 17 September this year in the MUCEM auditorium, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
This play was written by Thomas Flahaut following his meeting with Daniela Banaru (Mdc AMU MIO), who is researching the causes of the decline in marine wildlife in the Mediterranean.
Synopsis : Solane and Gojo have been hanging about on the cliff top for ten years, gazing out at a dying sea. Martin, the fisherman’s son, takes them on a desperate attempt to save it.

This BINÔME was created as part of The Year of the Sea (PPR Ocean and Climate, France 2030) by the La company The meanings of words.
With Binôme, the researcher becomes the subject of study for a playwright, who writes a play loosely based on their encounter. The result is moving, often funny, and offers us an unusual perspective on science and those who practise it. Following a one-off 50-minute meeting with a scientist, a playwright writes a 30-minute play for three voices. This is then staged as a reading by a collective of actors and directors, accompanied by an original musical score. Binôme has been developing since 2010 and now comprises a collection of 64 productions.
