Bar des sciences Pression Hyperbar: In Marseille, the treasures are also under the surface!

12 June 2025 - 7.00 pm - 21h00

Our speakers for the evening:

  • Sandrine Ruitton Professor of marine ecology at Aix-Marseille University, attached to the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanography (MIO).
  • Brahim Timricht Director of the Le Grand Bleu association.
  • Sébastien Tortora Chairman of the Mer Veille association.
  • Laurent Scheyer Deputy Director of the Parc National des Calanques

To mark the Year of the Sea and the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), Bleu Tomate and OSU Pytheas invite you to the last Hyperbaric Pressure evening of the season. It's a friendly, engaging opportunity to delve into the heart of a subject that's as fascinating as it is crucial: the life and health of the seabed along our Provencal coastline.

Why coastal waters? Because just a few metres from the beach, where the sea still seems calm, the future of marine biodiversity is at stake: refuge areas, nurseries, little-known habitats... These underwater landscapes, although close and essential, are subject to multiple pressures linked to human activities.

Researchers, naturalists, artists and people working in the field will be sharing their knowledge and stories over a drink, and asking themselves: How can we make this invisible world visible? What stories can we tell to raise awareness and inspire action? How can we better inform and mobilise people around the living sea?
