Deadline for submission of projects : 22 July 2026 à 10:00 CEST.
The rapid development of robotics combined with artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming industry, services and society by opening up new possibilities for complex real-world environments. Building on these advances, this EIG Concert-Japan call for projects, entitled «AI Robotics for Real-World Applications», supports collaborative research between researchers in Japan and Europe to address the key scientific and technological challenges associated with the development of adaptive, autonomous and intelligent robots capable of operating in dynamic, unstructured and human-centred environments.
This call invites researchers to submit project proposals at the intersection of artificial intelligence and robotics, with a particular focus on adaptive robotics—robots capable of learning and adapting whilst operating in the real world—in order to acquire skills, improve performance or modify behaviour in real time whilst interacting with their environment.
Project proposals must clearly demonstrate the tangible benefits that these AI-enabled robotic systems can bring to areas of societal interest, such as, amongst others, industry, social services, logistics, e-commerce, disaster response and environmental applications. Particular attention to security and privacy issues is also strongly encouraged.
Before submitting any application to the ANR, the relevant government departments encourage applicants to contact the Security and Defence Officer (FSD) to check that their project meets the eligibility criteria.
