This year, the CNRS is opening 47 posts, each accompanied by a «start-up package» and leading to permanent appointment to the post of research director upon completion of the contract. These 47 chairs comprise 43 new chairs being created for the first time in 2026, supplemented by four chairs advertised in previous years but which the CNRS had decided not to fill, as the selection panels did not consider any of the applications sufficiently convincing.
