To mark the official visit to France by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the French National Research Institute for Development (IRD) has taken a further step forward in its scientific cooperation with Vietnam. The 10 September 2026, at the Vietnamese Embassy, Valérie Verdier, Chair and Chief Executive of the IRD, took part in a session dedicated to strengthening scientific cooperation in the field of marine observation.
A key highlight of this meeting was the signing of a draft cooperation programme between the IRD, the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and Gia Lai Province, as well as the presentation of the Guide to the development, implementation and operation of a Marine Observatory in Vietnam.
This guide was produced as part of a MEAE-FEF project led by IRD Vietnam, with significant input from the MIO in its drafting: Marc Tedetti, Catherine Guigue, Sandrine Chifflet, Nagib Bhairy and Jean-Luc Fuda.
