The MARMOR-AVEL marine research expedition (led by V. Ballu, T. Coulombier and LIENSS) took place two weeks ago in the Pertuis, the coastal area around La Rochelle, aboard the catamaran Morskoul.
Through a call for tenders issued by the FOF for this research vessel, the aim is to assess how, using which instruments, and to what extent, some oceanographic studies can be carried out under sail.
During the MARMOR_AVEL project, we tested the deployment of various marine instruments and drones and carried out physical measurements at the air-sea interface, at the surface and within the water column.
Jean-Luc Fuda and Stéphanie Barrillon deployed the VVP (Vertical Velocity Profiler) there, which is particularly well suited to carrying out continuous CTD profiles on a light vessel such as the Morskoul.
A success!
