PLUME post-cruise meeting

The PLUME Franco-Vietnamese oceanographic campaign, co-organised by MIO, LEGOS and IMER-VAST, took place in Vietnam from 27 May at 10 July 2024 on board the French oceanographic vessel ANTEA.

Almost two years later, the PLUME post-campaign meeting was successfully held on 14 and 15 April 2026 at the Institut des Sciences et Technologies de l'Énergie et de l'Environnement (ISTEE, VAST) in Hanoi.

We were honoured to welcome Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice-President of VAST, and Mr. Olivier Brochet, French Ambassador to Vietnam, who underlined the importance of scientific cooperation between Vietnam and France in their opening speeches.

Over two days, scientists and partners shared initial results, exchanged ideas and strengthened collaborations across a wide range of themes, including biogeochemistry, ocean dynamics, microbiology, ecology, modelling, contaminant geochemistry and data management.

Participants were also invited to a reception at the French Embassy on 14 April, to encourage informal exchanges and networking.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the institutions that contributed to the organisation and funding of this event: the French Embassy and the French Institute in Vietnam, through the FEF «Living with Rivers» project, the IRD, VAST, ISTEE and USTH. We would also like to thank all the participants for their valuable contributions to this fruitful meeting.

This meeting marks an important step in strengthening partnerships and developing collaborative research as part of the PLUME project.
