History of oceanography symposium - 150 years of marine and coastal research

3 July 2024 to 5 July 2024

Organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the Wimereux zoological station, the International Colloquium on the History of Marine Sciences will take place from July 3 to 5, 2024 at the UMR LOG.

Call for papers open until May 15, 2024 and free registration until June 1, 2024.

On June 15, 1874, Alfred Giard founded one of France's first marine stations: the Station de Zoologie Maritime in Wimereux. Today, the Laboratoire d'Océanologie et de Géosciences (LOG) is marking the 150th anniversary of the marine station with a historical and scientific symposium featuring specialists in the history of science. A call for papers is open until May 15, 2024 to researchers in history and oceanography wishing to communicate on the historical development of their discipline. Scientific topics will cover the historical development of oceanography in the broadest sense, including marine ecology, physical oceanography, marine and coastal geosciences, and oceanographic observation.
