Le 20th October, Catherine Guigue from the Mediterranean Institute of Oceanology (MIO, Marseille, France) gave a presentation at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH) on Dynamics of dissolved organic matter in coastal environments: an approach based on the study of dissolved organic carbon and dissolved black carbon.
Following this presentation, with the support of researchers Cam Tu VU (USTH) and Marc Tedetti (IRD-MIO/USTH), Catherine organised two weeks of training as part of the IRN IRD SOOT-SEA project.
She supervised Vietnamese and Thai researchers and students from the Ho Chi Minh City Universities of Science (HCMUS) and Technology (HCMUT), the Asian Centre for Water Research (CARE), the Institute of Chemistry of Natural Products (INPC), and Chulalongkorn University on good practice in the acquisition of organic carbon and dissolved black carbon, two key parameters in understanding the functioning of aquatic ecosystems, particularly coastal environments subject to strong anthropogenic pressures.
