The VVP could swim.... And now it flies!

On April 29 and 30, 2021, a part of the "VVP-Team" went to the wind tunnel to perform a series of hydrodynamic tests of their VVP (Vertical Velocities Profiler) prototype, in particular for the study of the wake of the instrument.

We were able to measure the frequency of the emitted vortices as a function of the configuration (with or without fairing on one side, with or without half-sphere on the other) and of the wind speed.

We also visualized the trajectory of the fluid using smoke and a laser plane. Many thanks to Hubert, Christopher and Melanie for their welcome and valuable help!
