Workshop on dissolved oxygen in the ocean: towards an ocean and coastal data platform for the French community

2 July 2019 to 3 July 2019

The objective of this workshop is to bring together ocean science stakeholders interested in dissolved oxygen. Oxygen is essential to the health of the planet. It affects the cycles of carbon, nitrogen and other key elements, and is a fundamental requirement for aquatic life. Nevertheless, deoxygenation is worsening in the coastal and open ocean.

The purpose of this workshop is to contribute to the development of an open access platform on ocean dissolved oxygen concentration data collected by the entire French community, regardless of the approach used: argo-bgc, profiling floats, anchorages, experimental data, water-sediment interface. The objective is to inventory existing data, and to develop specifications for the implementation of a synthetic data product, including quality control. It is part of the international effort led by the IOC-UNESCO GO2NE (Global Ocean Oxygen Network), and IOCCP.

The program of these days will include oral presentations and working groups with experts and representatives of offshore and coastal observation networks. If you wish to participate in this scientific event, please contact the organizing committee. Detailed information about the program, registration and other logistical details will be provided shortly.
