Xavier Mari, new IRD representative in Thailand

Xavier Mari is a research director in marine biogeochemistry at MIO-CEM, currently assigned to Vietnam. He conducts research to determine the fluxes and effects of combustion aerosols during their life cycle, from their emission to their burial in marine sediments.
He is the leader of the international research group "Impact of Black Carbon in Southeast Asia" (GDRI-South SOOT-SEA) which gathers a multidisciplinary consortium of scientists addressing health, climate, environmental and socio-political issues related to fine particle air pollution in the Asia-Pacific region. Xavier Mari is also the IRD focal point for the Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership (APCAP).
Xavier will take up his new position on September 1st. He will remain structurally attached to the MIO.
