Day 1 - All on board the Pourquoi Pas?

31 january 2022

The odds are against us

Well arrived at La Seyne-sur-Mer! BathyBot and his entire team (with a few absentees who remained on Earth: Séverine Martini, Karim Mahiouz, Céline Laus) boarded the oceanographic vessel the Pourquoi Pas? who is ready to go. But we had not reckoned on the vagaries of the weather... The wind is over 80 km/h (with peaks exceeding 100 km/h) and the sea is very rough. It's impossible to plan the immersion of observation devices in complete safety with 4 meters waves. We are therefore staying at the quay until Wednesday, which gives the crew time to adapt to life on board smoothly.

Moving in !

The scientists settle in their new laboratory aboard the Pourquoi Pas?. Nw they have to set up all the equipment needed for their researches and it represents a hudge amount of boxes to unpack! On the menu, for Chloé Baumas and Pauline Le Coq, samples of marine snow. We will tell you all about this later...
