This interdisciplinary workshop aims to explore how biological diversity influences biogeochemical cycles, and how these interactions can be modelled using numerical modelling and artificial intelligence approaches.

Supported by LEFE-CYBER, LOV, AD2M and ANR APERO, the workshop will encourage discussion amongst physicists, chemists, biologists, biogeochemists, modellers and digital tools specialists on new approaches linking observations, data and models.

The workshop will combine plenary sessions and group work focusing on three main themes:

• Emerging data : to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with new biological data (omics, in situ imaging, autonomous platforms) that enable the characterisation of the structure and functioning of food webs.
• Towards process-based modelling : to draw up a roadmap for developing semi-empirical approaches into models capable of incorporating the influence of functional diversity and fine-scale ocean dynamics on biogeochemical fluxes.
• Structure of the data-model interface : to develop methodological recommendations for the use of innovative digital tools (high-resolution 3D modelling, artificial intelligence) in order to better link hydrodynamics, biodiversity, food webs and biogeochemical fluxes.

Number of participants limited to 80. Meals will be provided. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
