Valérie Verdier has just been appointed President and CEO of the IRD by the Council of Ministers of 12 February 2020, on the proposal of Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, who are responsible for the public establishment. She will chair the Institute's Board of Directors and will be in charge of the general management of the establishment.

On 7 January 2020, the discovery of a new coronavirus, called "2019-nCov", was officially announced by the Chinese health authorities.

Here are the safety instructions regarding the virus that has been identified in China in recent days and recently spread to South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan. Please read this message carefully and inform yourself about the risks and health guidelines regarding the Coronavirus in Asia.

All departures for missions to China are currently suspended: if you had obtained an authorization for a mission to China in the next few weeks, it is no longer valid. You are asked to postpone your trip.

Alexis Drogoul, IRD Representative in Vietnam and 3 researchers, Benoit Gaudou, Emilie Strady (MIO) and Xavier Mari (MIO), participated on January 14, 2020 in a meeting co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the French Embassy in Vietnam on the theme of environmental protection.

The members of the Board of Directors, at its meeting of 14 January 2020 at 2.15 p.m., approved the list of Vice-Presidents and Advisors proposed by Eric Berton, President of Aix-Marseille University.

Eric Berton thus surrounds himself with a new governance composed as mentioned below :

On Monday January 6, Eric Berton was elected with a large majority to the presidency of Aix-Marseille University by the members of the Board of Directors for a 4-year term.
Voting results: 28 votes out of 36 voters, against 5 votes for Philippe Blache, also candidate, and 3 blank votes.
